Welcome!

I'm a poet who lives and works in Minneapolis, and my collection Starting Again is available from Finishing Line Press. (You can find it at SubText Books in downtown St. Paul and Comma, a bookshop, in Minneapolis, or order it from them!)

This site introduces you to some of my writing.

The site also shares the kind of background about me I'm curious to learn about other authors when I go hear them read or perform.

Along with a sample of my poetry published in various journals you'll find reviews I've written, a list of favorite poets, and a list of what I've read that's left lasting impressions.

To engage and play with words, open myself to the words of others, search for entry points to delve deeper into things—these are what keep me going. Maybe it's the same for you—whether through words or another medium.

Events

  • I was one of the featured readers at Poets & Pints on Nov. 15, 2023, at Sisyphus Brewing in Minneapolis—along with Ollie Schminkey and Joey Z. Great poetry that evening, and the beer at Sisyphus was enjoyable too.

  • It felt very special to be part of the pre-launch celebration of Maya Jewell Zeller’s collection out takes/ glove box at Eat My Words Bookstore in Minneapolis on Oct. 12th, 2023, and to share my work alongside Maya Jewell Zeller, Sherrie Fernandez-Williams, and Kathryn Nuernberger.

  • Watch here if you missed my reading as part of the Midstream Reading Series on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021. I had so much fun participating with Claire Wahmanholm, Chris Stark, and Matt Mauch. I’m first up after Richard’s intro. Thanks Richard Terrill and everyone at Midstream!

  • A virtual evening of poetry and prose to celebrate Starting Again on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 (with Joanne Esser and Pamela Carter Joern to help me celebrate). If you missed it, you can watch it here.

  • Write On! Radio, KFAI-FM 90.3. Tuesday Oct. 27 2020. I spoke with co-host David Fettig about Starting Again. (My interview is halfway through the show.)

  • I was an exhibiting author (virtually) at Rain Taxi’s Twin Cities Book Festival Oct. 15-17 2020.
